Where it fits
For light frames in front of premises, menu boards in restaurants, showcases in shopping centers, backlit storefronts, and advertising panels at stations. Works with both fluorescent and LED backlighting.
If the panel has LED strips around the perimeter and weaker light in the middle, let us know—the motif can be prepared so the light transition isn’t visible.
Why backlit is printed differently
Light passing through from behind lightens every color. If we printed the film like a poster, it would fade when lit and dark areas would turn gray. Therefore, we print backlit with higher ink density—it looks slightly darker when off, but exactly as it should when lit.
One practical tip: evaluate the proof against the light, not on a table. You won’t be able to tell on a monitor or a paper print.
Dimensions
Enter the dimensions the film should have—including the edge that slides into the frame. For snap frames and quick-release frames, this is usually the visible area plus 1 to 2 cm on each side. If unsure, measure the old film or specify the frame type in the notes.
We print up to 160 cm wide; the longer side can be up to ten meters. We always charge for at least one square meter.
How to prepare your files
PDF at actual size with a 2 cm bleed. Keep text and logos at least 3 cm from the edge so the frame doesn’t hide them. 150 dpi is sufficient at actual size.
Avoid large areas of pure black—it looks dark gray when backlit. If you need a truly deep black, mention it in the notes and we’ll solve it with ink density. Details can be found in the PDF guide next to the order form.

FAQ
Can I use a regular poster instead of backlit?
For a small frame and a short event, yes, but paper turns yellow when backlit and colors get lost. Backlit film is designed for light to pass through evenly.
How should I measure the film dimensions?
The safest way is to take out the old film and measure it. For a snap frame, add 1 to 2 cm to each side of the visible area—that’s how much the frame covers.
Why does the film look dark when it’s off?
Because it’s made for backlighting. Higher ink density is exactly what maintains saturation when lit. Always evaluate it against the light.
Will backlit last outdoors?
In a closed showcase or a frame under a roof, yes. Exposed to rain and frost, no—a blockout banner is better for outdoor areas.
Does it work with LED and fluorescent lights?
Both. With LED panels using point backlighting, individual diodes sometimes show through—this is a property of the frame, not the film. A diffusion plate or a motif without large solid areas helps.
Can backlit be printed on both sides?
No, it’s only printed on one side. For double-sided light panels, two films are placed back-to-back with a diffusion layer between them.
